The University of Texas at Austin provides a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program designed to deliver comprehensive academic and clinical training for aspiring audiologists. Participants fulfill clinical practice requirements both at the UT Speech and Hearing Center and through external clinical rotations serving varied age groups.
This four-year curriculum integrates cutting-edge academic coursework, research opportunities, and hands-on clinical training covering all aspects of auditory and vestibular function. Prospective students are advised to obtain clinical exposure prior to joining the SLHS Graduate Program at UT Austin.
The mandatory graduate internship through the Stan Richards School of Advertising & Public Relations bridges theoretical knowledge with real-world application. Enrollment is restricted to graduate students who have completed necessary prerequisites (please verify with your academic advisor).
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
