The Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) doctoral program offers a customized, mentor-guided, and cross-disciplinary research education designed to cultivate future leaders in academia, research, and clinical practice. The SLHS Department is committed to delivering an extensive curriculum that enhances knowledge about typical human communication processes and associated impairments throughout all life stages. This program equips PhD candidates with essential expertise and competencies in speech, language, and hearing sciences, preparing them for successful careers as educator-researchers. Academic progress is initially supervised by a primary advisor and advisory committee, transitioning to dissertation guidance under the primary advisor and dissertation committee after achieving candidacy.
