The textiles and apparel field integrates concepts from arts, sciences, humanities, and business to deliver a multidisciplinary, hands-on learning environment that prepares students for diverse career paths and further studies. Textiles and Apparel (TXA) students can choose from an array of cutting-edge courses offered on campus, in New York City or Paris, France, or through partnerships with Austin-area industry studios and labs. TXA coursework covers design artistry, chemical and physical sciences, and retail business applications.
After completing core foundational studies, students specialize by selecting courses that progress through beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels. The curriculum emphasizes practical learning in a fast-evolving industry, exposing students to modern retail dynamics, global traditions, product innovation, consumer psychology, fashion design, digital design tools, eco-friendly practices, and textile analysis, along with other key areas.
