IUP's Fashion Studies program explores the diverse aspects of the clothing industry, covering everything from initial design concepts to post-purchase experiences. The curriculum provides students with comprehensive fashion knowledge through core classes, followed by the opportunity to specialize in Merchandising, Design, or Styling and Promotion - tailoring their education to personal interests, talents, and professional aspirations. Coursework integrates essential skills like effective communication, creative problem-solving, collaborative project management, polished presentation techniques, and analytical reasoning.
Program alumni qualify for various roles including entry-level buying or design positions, sales representation, retail management, custom tailoring, costume production, quality assurance analysis, textile evaluation, trend prediction, visual display coordination, museum assistance, color consultation, fashion entrepreneurship, personal shopping services, production supervision, e-commerce ventures, and digital fashion advising.
