The textiles and apparel field blends elements from arts, sciences, humanities, and business to create a multidisciplinary educational journey, delivering an engaging curriculum that prepares students for diverse career paths and further studies. Textiles and Apparel (TXA) students can choose from an array of cutting-edge courses offered on campus, in New York City or Paris, France, or through hands-on collaborations with industry partners in the Austin region. TXA scholars explore design creativity, the fundamentals of chemistry and physics, and the implementation of retail business strategies.
After completing a core curriculum, students specialize by selecting courses that progress through beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. These classes offer practical training that mirrors an industry in constant transformation—adapting to fast-changing retail landscapes, drawing insights from global traditions, product innovation, consumer psychology, fashion creation, digital design tools, eco-conscious practices, and textile analysis, among other areas.
If you are an international applicant, you must have completed an accredited secondary school series equivalent to that of a U.S. high school.
Minimum scores acceptable for admission are:
TOEFL: 79 (internet-based test)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
