The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (EVS Program) is an interdisciplinary degree jointly administered by UT Austin's College of Natural Sciences, Jackson School of Geosciences, and College of Liberal Arts. Distinguished by its innovative approach, the program emphasizes practical fieldwork and career readiness to develop the next generation of environmental science professionals.
Scientific Core Curriculum: In their initial two years, students complete foundational coursework spanning Earth sciences, biology, geography, economics, ecological studies, sustainability policies, and climate issues. This comprehensive base equips graduates with the expertise needed for environmental science careers.
Practical Field Training: Early in the program, students participate in specialized field seminars and research methodology courses led by distinguished UT professors. These immersive experiences provide real-world training in studying water systems, ecological communities, coastal environments, and sustainability projects.
Through this multidisciplinary, experiential learning approach, students maintain engagement while developing solutions for pressing environmental issues.
