The BioRenewable Systems Major is an interdisciplinary program combining engineering technology, natural resources, and agricultural studies with core business, entrepreneurship, and management principles. Offered by the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, the BioRenewable Systems (BRS) curriculum equips students to address modern challenges and pursue careers in both conventional fields and the growing bioeconomy. Participants in this program will gain: (1) foundational scientific knowledge about resources, processes, and products in biorenewable systems, (2) communication and management competencies for careers in product development, technology, sales, marketing, and leadership roles, and (3) systems analysis capabilities that enable effective problem-solving in agricultural and bioproduct industries.

Alumni often work as sales representatives, field specialists, financial advisors, technical consultants, or quality assurance professionals across renewable bioproducts and related agricultural fields including: machinery systems, forestry products, food processing, biomanufacturing, environmental solutions, timber construction, bioenergy, co-product innovation, and agricultural chemicals. Graduates may also pursue advanced degrees in science, engineering, or business disciplines.
