The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting program equips students with essential training and knowledge for pursuing an acting profession. This distinctive four-year curriculum blends traditional stage performance courses with cutting-edge instruction in devised theater, film, and television. Our faculty of practicing professionals explores historical, current, and emerging aspects of an actor's professional journey.
The program's coursework, visiting artist workshops, and performance opportunities showcase the distinctive qualities of The University of Texas at Austin, providing instruction and hands-on experience through departmental productions, partnerships with industry professionals, masterclasses with guest artists, and access to the extensive academic resources of a top-tier university. Each year, the department stages six to eight main theater productions, offering diverse performance opportunities from classical works to modern plays, musical theater, and new works.
With a focus on screen acting, the B.F.A. in Acting program partners with Moody College of Communication's Radio-Television-Film Department. Advanced students can opt for industry preparation through the UT Semester in Los Angeles program, which includes a residency in LA.
If you are an international applicant, you must have completed an accredited secondary school series equivalent to that of a U.S. high school.
Minimum scores acceptable for admission are:
TOEFL: 79 (internet-based test)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
