Our French program features an exceptional team of instructors, many honored with prestigious University and College teaching awards. Students can pursue undergraduate studies across all proficiency levels, from introductory to advanced. The upper-level curriculum encompasses diverse subjects including French culture, literature, film studies, historical perspectives, gender research, political science, language studies, and linguistics. FR-coded classes are conducted entirely in French, while FC-designated courses require no prior French knowledge as they're taught in English.
Majors in French have the exciting opportunity to participate in the Internships in Francophone Europe (IFE) program, providing unparalleled semester-long work and study experiences in Paris, Strasbourg, or Brussels. Successful IFE participants may earn up to nine credit hours. The Department of French and Italian provides generous scholarships that fully fund this exceptional program.
