The UT School of Architecture's Undergraduate Architecture Program provides two dual degree pathways for Bachelor of Architecture candidates. These combined degree tracks lengthen a student's academic journey while delivering substantial educational and career advantages. The six-year professional dual degree, pairing a Bachelor of Architecture with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering, is a collaborative initiative between the School of Architecture and the Cockrell School of Engineering, bridging architectural design with engineering principles. Prospective students must satisfy both the School of Architecture's admission criteria and the Cockrell School of Engineering's enrollment prerequisites outlined in their Admission and Registration guidelines. This dual degree requires completion of a minimum 195 credit hours.
Our undergraduate architecture curriculum merges the focus of professional training with the resources of a top-tier research institution. The demanding program prioritizes design while incorporating studies in history, building technology, visual communication, and structural systems. Students first develop core conceptual abilities and architectural fundamentals, mastering how to express ideas through physical models and digital drawings while transitioning effortlessly between traditional and computer-based techniques. Advanced coursework then challenges them to implement these skills on both practical and theoretical design challenges.
