The Master of Fine Arts in Arts: Visual Communication Design pushes students to blend design theory, philosophy, practice, and teaching methods. Program graduates will gain the skills to advance Design as a professional field. Leading organizations like the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda) foster designer development and the discipline's progress, focusing on these core aspects-
examining visual communication design as a field that bridges multiple disciplines
design's influence on socio-cultural and ecological systems, and how designers can promote resource conservation (sustainable practices)
raising consciousness about designers' role in shaping cultural visual environments

An applicant must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or its foreign equivalent, with a satisfactory grade-point average.
Applicants are expected to submit a score of at least 550 on the paper-based TOEFL, a score of at least 213 on the computer-based TOEFL, a minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS, or a minimum TOEFL iBT total score of 79. Further, when the TOEFL iBT is taken, sectional scores of at least 22 on the writing section, 21 on the speaking section, 20 on the reading section, and 16 on the listening section are preferred.
Graduate Application Priority Dates - Fall: March 15; Spring: August 15; Summer: February 15.
