The Master of Arts in Linguistics program offers comprehensive education in core disciplines including phonetics, syntax, semantics, and psycholinguistics; specialized instruction in documentary linguistics, experimental approaches, corpus analysis, and second language learning; plus opportunities to share research findings at academic conferences. Participants will cultivate specialized knowledge in at least one focused research area. The Linguistics & TESOL Department aims to expand linguistic knowledge by investigating language representation, usage, and cognitive processing. Faculty and students pursue this mission through scholarly work and instruction in theoretical linguistics, concentrating on sound systems, grammatical structures, meaning interpretation, language use, and psychological aspects of language, along with their interconnections. To investigate these topics, we employ diverse methodologies—including fieldwork techniques, corpus analysis, and experimental approaches—to gather and examine linguistic data from numerous global languages and both native and learner populations.
