The Mathematics Department provides undergraduate programs for both Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in mathematics. The Bachelor of Science program allows students to specialize in one of several concentrations: actuarial science, applied mathematics, pure mathematics, statistics, data science, or secondary education certification.
The pure mathematics track is designed for students planning to continue their studies in graduate mathematics programs. Applied mathematics prepares students for mathematical careers in growing technology sectors. Actuarial science focuses on applying mathematical principles to business contexts. Data science combines mathematical training with interdisciplinary skills for analyzing large datasets. The secondary education pathway, offered through UT Arlington's UTeach initiative, prepares future high school math teachers. The Bachelor of Arts program offers a classical liberal arts education with a mathematics focus.
The Bachelor of Arts curriculum blends liberal arts coursework with comprehensive mathematics instruction and requires completion of a minor field of study.
Students must have completed official secondary school transcripts, diplomas, certificates and/or national test examination scores as appropriate for the educational systems in their country. In order to be considered for freshman admission students must have completed secondary school studies equivalent to that of United States high school graduation.
Official SAT I or ACT scores are required for entering freshmen with less than 24 semester hours of university level course work (equivalent to one year of full time study).

The minimum acceptable score on the TOEFL is 79 on the Internet-based test, 550 on the paper-based test and 213 on the computer-based test. The IELTS can be substituted for TOEFL scores. The minimum acceptable overall score of 6.5 is required for admission. Scores must be sent directly to UT Arlington from the Testing Service to be considered official.
