The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice (CRCJ) at UTA offers students a challenging academic program designed to equip them for leadership roles across municipal, state, and federal organizations. Those new to the field can gain practical experience through internships with local law enforcement agencies and legal practices. CRCJ students employ scientific methods to examine crime factors, profiles of victims and perpetrators, and the operations of law enforcement institutions (police, judiciary, and correctional facilities). The program also fosters analytical reasoning and solution-oriented abilities. Our department has a longstanding reputation for graduating professionals ready to assume key positions within criminal justice systems at all government levels. The curriculum covers-
All core elements of criminal justice: law enforcement, judicial processes, and rehabilitation systems
Crime scene analysis, encompassing theoretical foundations, on-scene procedures, information gathering, and evidence handling
Legal procedures within the justice system; evidentiary standards, search and arrest protocols, and the judicial pathway from crime to sentencing
Application of forensic techniques in criminal investigations
Case development and trial procedures
