The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice equips students for exciting and meaningful careers in fields that benefit communities and society, including law enforcement, judicial systems, corrections, and victim support services. Through an interdisciplinary curriculum and practical experiences like internships, courtroom observations, and international study trips, students develop a thorough grasp of criminal behavior and justice systems.
With a strong emphasis on hands-on education, the Department maintains a tradition of incorporating real-world learning into every course. Faculty members integrate activities such as visits to correctional facilities (including Florida's death row), forensic labs, mental health institutions, and law enforcement agencies to enhance classroom instruction.
