The PreK-12 Deaf Education graduate certificate is designed for educators aiming to build expertise in equitable, effective teaching methods for diverse PreK-12 students with various exceptional needs. This program suits PreK-12 teachers certified in non-special education fields, those with undergraduate-level special education credentials, aspiring administrators overseeing specialized student programs, non-certified professionals working closely with school systems (such as museum or agency staff), and homeschooling educators. The curriculum prepares participants for Tennessee's additional Deaf Education PreK-12 endorsement, contingent upon transcript evaluation, successful licensure examinations, and faculty advisor approval. Candidates must achieve at least an Intermediate Plus score on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) for endorsement eligibility.
