The department provides a Five-Year BS-MS program for eligible students. A key feature is that qualified students can enroll in up to 9 hours of approved graduate courses as senior undergraduate electives, which will apply toward both their bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Tennessee. This program is tailored for students pursuing their Master of Science degree at the University of Tennessee, as other institutions might not accept these courses for graduate credit if they were used to fulfill Bachelor of Science requirements. Essential aspects of the program include: Students need a minimum overall GPA of 3.4 for admission. Conditional admission may be awarded after finishing 64 hours of required coursework, with full admission granted upon completing 96 hours while maintaining a minimum 3.4 GPA in required courses. Students must have at least conditional admission before enrolling in graduate courses for dual degree credit. All graduate-level courses must receive approval from the program's departmental chair. Admitted students must seek permission from the Graduate School to take these approved courses for graduate credit and must also adhere to the standard Graduate School admission process.
Applicants must have a completion of high school or college academic work.
