The Department of Psychology at the University of Tennessee boasts the institution's most extensive undergraduate and doctoral programs, earning nationwide acclaim for its exceptional research, distinguished faculty, and outstanding students. Our department supports roughly 110 graduate students across three specialized tracks: an Experimental Psychology program focusing on Cognitive and Developmental Science, Social Psychology, and Neuroscience and Behavior, along with two prestigious applied doctoral programs in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. With over 900 undergraduate psychology majors, we confer nearly 500 bachelor's degrees each year - accounting for about 25% of all undergraduate degrees awarded by the College of Arts and Sciences. To apply for admission as an undergraduate student, each international student is required to provide the following:
A completed application for undergraduate admission.
Complete one required essay chosen from one of seven prompts.

For students attending secondary school outside the US, our admissions team will need official copies of your transcript, diploma, or certificate prior to enrollment.
Request your secondary school or counselor to send your official transcripts. Transcripts, certificates, or diplomas must come directly from the issuing school or issuing ministry or body. Official transcripts are certified copies sent directly from the authorized school official.
