The World Languages & Cultures program extends learning beyond traditional classrooms, engaging students in cultural immersion to cultivate globally aware individuals. With Russia currently playing a pivotal role in international geopolitics - instigating Europe's most significant conflict since WWII, endangering worldwide food supplies, and supporting authoritarian governments globally - Americans must grasp Russian culture and history now more than ever. This knowledge will be crucial for establishing lasting peace when opportunities emerge. Students pursuing Russian studies take center stage in promoting this understanding across Tennessee and the United States.
UT's Russian studies curriculum develops proficiency in language while deepening historical and cultural insights about Russia and its diverse ethnic populations. Beyond language, literature, and cultural courses, the program provides access to prestigious international study opportunities through various acclaimed study abroad initiatives.

To apply for admission as an undergraduate student, each international student is required to provide the following:
A completed application for undergraduate admission.
Complete one required essay chosen from one of seven prompts.
Optional: Submit recommendation letters (academic, professional, or personal) and a Personal Statement.
