The Program offers exceptional independence while providing structured support at key stages of a student's academic journey. Students can choose from three concentrations: B.A. in Humanities: Liberal Arts, B.A. in Humanities: International Studies, or B.A. in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Departmental Honors are awarded upon meeting specific criteria. For the Liberal Arts or International Studies concentrations, students need to maintain a 2.0 GPA in their chosen program, complete 45 semester hours across UTC's academic departments (with no more than 18 hours from any single department). These concentrations enable students to craft personalized interdisciplinary curricula after fulfilling UTC's standard B.A. General Education requirements. In their sophomore year, students refine their academic focus by drafting a Program Rationale, which outlines their study concentration—whether a cultural theory, historical period, geographical focus, or intellectual pursuit. This Rationale serves as a guiding framework, demonstrating how core courses interconnect.
