The economics program blends a comprehensive liberal arts foundation with in-depth exploration of key subjects like market systems, labor dynamics, economic development, corporate structures, financial prosperity, price stability, healthcare, sustainability, fiscal policy, and global economics. The Department of Economics, located within the Haslam College of Business, enables students to pursue either a major or minor in economics through the College of Arts and Sciences. Furthermore, the program offers certification for teaching economics at the secondary level. Prospective educators should contact the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences early in their academic journey to understand necessary qualifications. Universal Tracking (uTrack) serves as an academic progress system to support students in achieving timely degree completion. To maintain satisfactory progress, learners must fulfill specific benchmarks each semester, which may involve passing designated courses or maintaining minimum grade standards. Note that uTrack regulations apply exclusively to full-time students seeking degrees.
