The Artist Certificate graduate program is an intensive performance-focused curriculum tailored for exceptional musicians preparing for professional careers. Candidates must exhibit technical proficiency and artistic excellence in advanced repertoire, along with potential for success in prestigious competitions or auditions with leading performance organizations. The curriculum enhances repertoire knowledge, artistic interpretation, and performance capabilities essential for professional musicians. The String Performance specialization mandates 8 graduate credits in applied study, 4 in orchestra, 2 in chamber music, 3 in literature studies, 5 in elective music courses, plus a graduate recital (2 credits). Continuous orchestra participation is required throughout residency. Elective coursework should consist of lecture-based classes selected in consultation with the program advisor.
