The Bachelor of Arts in Writing program cultivates students' mastery of written expression, blending liberal arts principles with hands-on professional training. Participants can specialize in creative writing (including fiction, poetry, and imaginative works), professional writing (covering journalism, PR, advertising, and technical communication), or media writing. The program features personalized mentorship from faculty actively engaged in research and publishing. Four student-run publications offer practical experience: The Minaret (UT's student newspaper), Neon (literary magazine), The Moroccan (yearbook), and Splice Journal (focusing on communication and culture). Students can receive academic credit for editorial roles. The English and Writing Department organizes the Writers at the University series, hosting renowned authors like Derek Walcott and Margaret Atwood for readings and classroom visits. Additionally, the department's Scholars Symposium brings distinguished experts to campus for specialized lectures.
