The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism program equips students with comprehensive training in news writing, reporting, editing, and multimedia production, alongside foundational knowledge of journalism's historical, ethical, and legal frameworks.
Situated in the nation's 13th largest media market, UT offers students access to competitive internships at Pulitzer-recognized newspapers and respected broadcast networks. Tampa Bay's vibrant arts and culture landscape frequently features contributions from UT students, while the region's professional sports teams provide opportunities to cover Buccaneers, Lightning, or Rays games as part of coursework. Our dedicated students regularly contribute to national publications like USA Today, extending their reach beyond local media.
Incoming journalism students become part of an active multimedia environment with student-led platforms spanning digital, radio, television, and print formats. The Minaret, UT's award-winning student newspaper, has earned recognition from the Florida College Press Association, Associated College Press, and Society of Professional Journalists. Each semester, students look forward to the publication's high-quality magazine editions.
