The human factors psychology master's program consists of 30-36 credit hours, available in both thesis and non-thesis options. The non-thesis path serves as a final degree, while the thesis option can be completed as part of a Ph.D. program.
At USD, human factors students engage in applied psychological research and work as specialists in human factors and ergonomics for various organizations. These include the U.S. military, Federal Aviation Administration, tech startups, leading corporations like Oracle and Microsoft, and academic institutions such as Michigan State University and George Mason University.
You'll collaborate on research with distinguished faculty who are recognized authorities in their disciplines. Ongoing research initiatives focus on areas like aging and driving, educational technology interface design, risk assessment and decision processes, gaming motivation and engagement, as well as traffic safety and cognitive workload measurement.
