The Bachelor of Science program offers comprehensive training in both practical and theoretical statistics, equipping students for diverse career paths. Graduates will develop proficiency in conducting essential statistical evaluations and creating effective visualizations for professional presentations. They'll achieve expertise in probability theory, mathematical statistics, statistical programming tools, while enhancing their technical communication abilities.
Statistics professionals enjoy strong employment prospects across multiple industries such as financial services, risk management, market research, public sector organizations, and online businesses. 'Statistician and data scientist roles frequently appear on lists of the best careers for degree holders, owing to their strong market need and competitive compensation. The B.S. in Statistics features two specialized tracks: the General Major and the Actuarial Science Concentration, tailored for aspiring actuaries. Additionally, statistics serves as an excellent secondary major to strengthen analytical capabilities in combination with another academic discipline.
International freshman applicants must be high school graduates (students that have the equivalent of a diploma in the United States).
English proficiency is measured through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of at least 550 on the paper based exam or 77 on the internet based TOEFL is required. USC also accepts the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the PTE Academic Test. Students must score at least a 6.5 on the IELTS, or at least a 53 on the PTE.
