Geological sciences involve examining how physical, chemical, and biological processes interact to shape Earth's environments and influence human activities. Those pursuing a geological science degree collaborate with SEOE's extensive and varied faculty, who possess expertise in areas like earthquakes, volcanoes, groundwater systems, climate shifts, and coastal ocean dynamics. The program provides specialized tracks in environmental geosciences and geophysics, with all options prioritizing hands-on fieldwork and culminating in a mandatory Field Geology capstone course held each year across Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico.
Earning a Bachelor of Science in geological science equips graduates for advanced studies or professional programs while also qualifying them for entry-level roles in diverse fields such as energy and mineral exploration, geotechnical services, and environmental consulting—particularly in groundwater and water resource management.
International freshman applicants must be high school graduates (students that have the equivalent of a diploma in the United States).
