The capacity to recognize, define, and resolve intricate engineering challenges through the application of engineering, scientific, and mathematical principles. The capability to employ engineering design in creating solutions that address specific requirements while accounting for public health, safety, and well-being, along with global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic considerations. Proficiency in communicating clearly with diverse audiences. The skill to acknowledge ethical and professional obligations in engineering scenarios and form reasoned decisions that account for the effects of engineering outcomes on global, economic, environmental, and societal dimensions. The competence to collaborate productively within a team, where members collectively demonstrate leadership, foster a cooperative and inclusive atmosphere, set objectives, organize activities, and achieve goals. The ability to design and perform suitable experiments, evaluate and interpret data, and employ engineering reasoning to reach conclusions. The aptitude to obtain and implement new knowledge as necessary, utilizing effective learning approaches.
International freshman applicants must be high school graduates (students that have the equivalent of a diploma in the United States).
English proficiency is measured through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of at least 550 on the paper based exam or 77 on the internet based TOEFL is required. USC also accepts the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the PTE Academic Test. Students must score at least a 6.5 on the IELTS, or at least a 53 on the PTE.
