The Secondary Education Program equips future educators for teaching in grades 9-12 at public schools. Offering specializations in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, and Comprehensive Social Studies, the program ensures both subject mastery and a well-rounded liberal arts foundation. The professional curriculum includes multiple semesters of hands-on experience in public schools, allowing candidates to engage directly with students and test teaching methods within their chosen certification field. Those pursuing Secondary Science Education - Biology certification will qualify to teach biology in high schools (grades 9-12). Participants gain extensive general education along with advanced biological sciences training, culminating in a research project. A minimum of 100 hours of secondary-level clinical experience is mandatory prior to the internship. This program aligns with the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) standards for Secondary Science Education - Biology.
