The Master of Science in Biology program equips qualified students to deepen their expertise in both broad and specialized biological fields, as reflected in the curriculum and faculty research focus. As a cornerstone department within the University of South Alabama's College of Arts and Sciences, the Biology Department boasts one of the largest student populations on campus. Students can earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology with optional specializations in Marine Biology or Environmental Sciences. The department also provides a Master of Science in Biology, where students have the opportunity to work closely with distinguished faculty members who are leaders in various biological science fields.
Undergraduate major in Biology, Botany, Zoology, or Environmental Biology with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4-point scale) in all biological courses taken. International students who do not speak English as their native language must submit proof of proficiency. A minimum TOEFL test scores of 560 on the paper-based test (PBT), 220 on the computer-based test (CBT) or 85 on the internet-based test (IBT), or a minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS test.
