A Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences with an ultrasound concentration prepares students to become skilled sonographers, specializing in diagnostic imaging using ultrasound technology. The curriculum encompasses key subjects including human anatomy, physiology, patient care, and ultrasound physics fundamentals. Students develop expertise in operating ultrasound machines, conducting various scanning procedures, and analyzing images to aid medical diagnoses. The program combines classroom learning with comprehensive clinical training, providing real-world experience across different healthcare settings. Graduates emerge with the competencies required to thrive in the fast-evolving medical sonography profession.
During the first year of the professional component (junior year - summer term), students choose one of three specialization paths: (1) advanced imaging modalities like CT, MRI, Vascular, or Mammography, (2) ultrasound, or (3) radiation therapy. Please note that enrollment in specific modalities depends on clinical placement availability. Consequently, students must prioritize their top three track and modality preferences.
