The Bachelor of Science in Health Education (6-12) program prepares future educators to teach health courses in middle and high schools. This teacher certification curriculum fulfills requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Education and qualifies graduates for Alabama's Class B Teaching Certificate. The 120-credit hour program spans eight semesters, equipping candidates to design, execute, and assess health education initiatives for grades 6-12. Through coursework and hands-on field experiences, students learn to deliver age-appropriate health instruction using diverse teaching methods across various educational environments. Accredited by both the Alabama State Department of Education and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, the program emphasizes practical application through classroom, lab, and clinical experiences. Students continuously integrate and evaluate educational technology while developing into reflective practitioners who incorporate current research into their teaching practice.
Applicants must have completed a secondary schools with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5. English Proficiency Requirement: Minimum IELTS: 5.5, Minimum TOEFL: 61, Minimum Pearson Academic: 44, Minimum iTEP: 3.6, Minimum Duolingo: 95.
