At the University of South Alabama, students have the option to earn a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies or choose it as a minor. Asia's growing economic, cultural, and political significance makes the Asian Studies concentration particularly valuable. This specialization equips students with language proficiency in East Asian languages (including Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) alongside studies in Asian history, philosophy, geography, political science, and culture. Through this curriculum, students gain insights into how Asia's rich historical and philosophical traditions shape its contemporary society, politics, and economy. These skills not only enhance career prospects but also expand personal perspectives.

The Asian Studies concentration merges language instruction in East Asian tongues (Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) with explorations of Asian history, philosophy, geography, political systems, and cultural traditions. Applicants must have completed a secondary schools with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5. English Proficiency Requirement: Minimum IELTS: 5.5, Minimum TOEFL: 61, Minimum Pearson Academic: 44, Minimum iTEP: 3.6, Minimum Duolingo: 95.
