The International Transactions and Comparative Law LLM program serves as your pathway to a successful career in American, international, and comparative legal practice. This program gives students a solid foundation in legal principles and hands-on skills to advance their legal professions both in the U.S. and internationally. Designed for both new law graduates and seasoned professionals, it offers the chance to study in vibrant San Francisco. Applicants must hold an initial law degree, an equivalent qualification, or be licensed to practice law in another jurisdiction. LLM students fully participate alongside JD candidates, fostering exposure to varied perspectives and networking opportunities beyond the LLM curriculum.
Participants can customize their academic journey by choosing from numerous recommended and optional law school courses, preparing for bar admission, or specializing in a particular field. Traditionally, students concentrate on one of two tracks: international business and commercial law or international human rights law. Alternatively, they may structure their studies around bar exam preparation. The program also provides valuable practical training through various clinical opportunities. In the immersive Frank C. Newman International Human Rights Law Clinic, students might visit New York or Geneva to engage in UN human rights events and conferences—an exceptional chance to apply academic learning in real-world settings.
