Modern Languages and Cultures (MLC) allows students to pursue clusters, minors, and majors in various languages including comparative literature, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. Additionally, Chinese is available for clusters and minors, while Korean and Portuguese offer cluster options.
Over 125 million people speak Japanese worldwide. Although primarily spoken in Japan, significant Japanese-speaking communities exist in Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Australia, Canada, and the United States. MLC majors typically complete ten to thirteen courses, with requirements varying based on prior language experience. All MLC programs share two foundational courses, while core and elective offerings differ by language track.
