The field of gender, sexuality, and women's studies examines the lived experiences of varied populations while exploring evolving cultural, economic, political, and psychological dynamics between them. Since our inquiries into gender and sexuality transcend traditional academic boundaries, we promote cross-disciplinary research and education. Each term, more than 300 undergraduates from diverse University departments participate in our gender, sexuality, and women's studies courses.
The Undergraduate Council for Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies serves as a hub for majors, minors, cluster participants, and anyone curious about these subjects to connect. This student-led organization coordinates campus events and maintains strong ties with faculty members.
SBAI provides two distinct GSWS major tracks: humanities-focused (H) and social sciences-oriented (SS). Both pathways fulfill College Upper-Level Writing requirements through GSW 200W and GSW 393. Completing either major requires 10 courses (40 credits) in GSWS, with the option to apply up to 4 study abroad courses toward the degree requirements.
