The Film and Media Studies program provides students with a chance to examine cinema, television, and digital arts as artistic expressions and cultural forces. Learners can pursue a minor, select a course cluster, or earn a Bachelor's degree in this field. Production classes in film and media may also be taken at other University departments for credit. Graduates find diverse career paths in fields like: Journalism across print and digital platforms, Arts administration and museum curation, Film archiving and preservation, Information science, Digital content creation. Some alumni continue their education at film or television institutes, specializing in areas such as production, direction, post-production, camera work, scriptwriting, performance, and other creative media disciplines. Alternatively, some opt for advanced studies in media analysis, historical research, and critical theory through master's or PhD programs.
Postgraduate options also include engaging fields like media legislation and corporate media studies.
The program facilitates internships at domestic and international broadcasting networks and media companies for enrolled students.
Participants may join the Art New York initiative, spending a term in NYC interning at renowned cultural or media organizations while completing coursework. The program additionally promotes international study opportunities for a semester, summer, or academic year.
Those pursuing a BA in Film and Media Studies can select between two concentrations:
Critical Studies Pathway, Creative Production Pathway
