The Bachelor of Arts in Engineering Science (BA-ES) is an interdisciplinary program focused on comprehending and applying engineering, scientific, and mathematical concepts. It establishes a comprehensive grounding in the sciences and related mathematics that form the basis of engineering, while enabling students to develop specialized expertise in their chosen field through technical electives.
The BA-ES program builds a strong base for careers such as patent law, technical writing, scientific advising, technical sales, and science or engineering education. As there is no uniform curriculum, the engineering science major does not hold ABET accreditation. Students pursuing this non-accredited degree who aim to become licensed professional engineers should note that additional education, work experience, or both will be necessary to qualify for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
Through strategic selection of electives and cluster courses, engineering science students can concentrate on one or more key disciplines. These courses facilitate deeper knowledge in specific subjects and may lead to a minor. Since BA-ES students have flexible pathways, the provided four-year plans are merely illustrative examples for potential specializations.
