The Pediatric NP Acute Care Advanced Certificate equips primary care-trained pediatric nurse practitioners with specialized skills to manage acute, complex, critical, and chronic conditions in children, including disabilities and injuries.
This intensive two-semester program readies graduates for diverse acute care environments like pediatric ICUs, inpatient units, emergency departments, urgent care centers, trauma facilities, and specialty areas including cardiology, pulmonology, and neurology.
As New York State's pioneering program of its kind, it emphasizes comprehensive care for pediatric patients across all age groups, training students to provide exceptional advanced nursing interventions that promote recovery, prevent complications, and guide families through dynamic acute care situations. Graduates become eligible to take the CPNP-AC certification examination.
The program features fully online coursework complemented by two on-campus intensive sessions each semester at the University of Rochester School of Nursing, with semesters comprising 6-9 credit hours based on individual clinical requirements.
Students collaborate with faculty advisors to customize their academic pathway through a curriculum blending core professional studies with specialized clinical coursework.
