The master's program in archaeology and anthropology is a 30-credit specialization within the History Department. This curriculum combines mandatory coursework with electives, highlighting methodological approaches and theoretical frameworks across history, anthropology, and archaeology while exploring their interdisciplinary relationships.
Participants in this track are urged to integrate studies across these fields. Potential interdisciplinary pairings include maritime history with underwater archaeology, social history with cultural anthropology, and ancient history with classical archaeology. Learners may also craft study plans centered on geographic regions or thematic focuses like race, gender, or family structures. Although some coursework might not align perfectly with a student's chosen focus, all classes support the program's primary goal: developing comprehensive knowledge of historical, anthropological, and archaeological methodologies and theories.
