Qualification Requirements

To be considered for admission into a graduate degree program, professional program, or certificate program, you must have:

A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in the United States or a foreign institution of acceptable standing
Adequate undergraduate preparation in the proposed major field or equivalent evidence of an appropriate background for undertaking an advanced degree program
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better in the undergraduate career that can be confirmed with official transcripts from the institution (some programs may require a higher or lower GPA).

TOEFL iBT - An overall score of 80 or above
Reading: 20, Writing: 22, Listening: 17, Speaking: 17 (the suggested minimum speaking score for international teaching assistants is 23).
Paper-based TOEFL Test (PBT): 550
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Required minimum score of 6.5. IELTS scores must be sent directly to URI.
