Your academic and studio coursework is enhanced by hands-on experience during the production season. Every year, significant theater productions offer chances to practice, implement, and evaluate the knowledge and techniques learned in class.
The program emphasizes practical studio training, while the B.A. degree includes more lecture-based and discussion-oriented courses. A standard B.F.A. curriculum dedicates about two-thirds of its content to the arts, with the remaining third covering broader liberal arts subjects. In contrast, a B.A. in Theatre often reverses this ratio. This intensive studio-based approach provides graduates with a distinct advantage over their peers. This unique focus sets our program apart from other institutions.
Those pursuing design and theater technology must complete an extra 31 credits, including: Individual Theatre Projects, Specialized Group Studies, Costume Design Theory, Stage Costume Design, Set Design, Lighting Design, and 12 elective credits from options like Scene Painting, Advanced Independent Theatre Projects, Advanced Group Studies, Professional Internships, Costume Construction, Advanced Costume Design, Specialized Design and Technical Theatre Workshops, Advanced Set Design, and Advanced Lighting Design.
