The athletic training degree program first received accreditation in 1997, with subsequent renewals in 2004 and 2012 from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Before this official recognition, the program's curriculum had maintained approval from the National Athletic Trainers Association since 1978. The Master's in Athletic Training program is scheduled for its next accreditation review in 2022.
