This joint degree program merges public health studies with nonprofit leadership training, designed for students dedicated to advancing public health initiatives and creating social change via nonprofits and social ventures. The NPL/MPH curriculum provides both practical skills and theoretical knowledge to equip future public health professionals with the ability to: Establish and manage nonprofit organizations across local, national, and international health sectors Develop, execute, assess, and share health programs that meet community needs while influencing public discourse and policy decisions Through this dual degree, students can obtain both qualifications by finishing 19 course units (CUs), achieved by applying up to five shared courses toward both degrees. Pursued separately, the MPH demands 14 credits while the NPL requires 10 credits.
Applicant must have obtained a bachelor's degree from an accredited School or University prior to intended matriculation date.
A strong command of the English language is necessary for successful study at Penn. Applicants whose families do not speak English at home, or applicants who have not attended a high school or secondary school where the primary language of instruction is English, are asked to take the TOEFL, the Test of English as a Foreign Language, administered by the Educational Testing Service. In the event the TOEFL is not readily accessible, Penn will accept results from the IELTS, the International English Language Testing System.
