The University of Pennsylvania Law School offers a flexible LLM program, enabling students to customize their academic path. This specialized full-time program primarily serves internationally-trained legal professionals. You'll shape your own educational journey by choosing from Penn Law's comprehensive course catalog. LLM candidates study alongside advanced JD students in upper-level classes. The 10-month program features an initial 5-week Pre-Term session. Penn Carey Law LLM participants can also pursue the exclusive Wharton Business and Law Certificate, designed specifically for our graduate law students. You'll engage with Penn's interdisciplinary offerings, learning directly from Wharton professors and practitioners who bring theoretical concepts to life through practical examples. This certificate program, available to all LLM students, runs parallel to the main degree curriculum.
Applicants to the LLM program must already hold a law degree or expect to receive one prior to matriculation.
In general, we look for a TOEFL score of at least 100 (with a least 23 in each section) or IELTS score of 7 (with at least 7 in each section).
