The Legal Studies and Business Ethics Concentration examines the ethical principles, social responsibilities, and legal frameworks crucial for decision-making in today's global marketplace. Through this program, students learn how conscientious business professionals can navigate diverse cultural contexts, interact with various stakeholders, comply with regulations, and operate within legal parameters. Particularly beneficial for those looking to expand their business knowledge, this concentration develops vital qualitative reasoning abilities needed when confronting challenging decisions amid uncertainty or ethical dilemmas - common scenarios in dynamic economic environments. Participants will cultivate multiple analytical capabilities, such as: recognizing ethical and legal dimensions within intricate, culturally diverse situations, applying moral theories to reach sound judgments, drawing parallels between similar cases, and formulating coherent action plans based on established rules and precedents.

A strong command of the English language is necessary for successful study at Penn. Applicants whose families do not speak English at home, or applicants who have not attended a high school or secondary school where the primary language of instruction is English, are asked to take the TOEFL, the Test of English as a Foreign Language, administered by the Educational Testing Service. In the event the TOEFL is not readily accessible, Penn will accept results from the IELTS, the International English Language Testing System.
