The Architecture Major is designed for students aspiring to careers in architecture or related design fields such as landscape architecture, urban planning, or product design. This studio-focused liberal arts program features two specialized tracks. The Design Track comprises a six-semester studio sequence alongside courses exploring art history, architectural theory, and landscape architecture studies. Launched in 2000, this undergraduate program enables Arts & Sciences students to engage with architecture through multiple pathways - from introductory Freshman Seminars and an Architecture Minor to a comprehensive Major with three focus areas (Design, History & Theory, and Intensive Design). Graduates receive a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from the School of Arts & Sciences with an Architecture Major. While the B.A. alone doesn't satisfy U.S. state licensing requirements, the curriculum fulfills or surpasses the entry prerequisites for most NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture programs, the professional degree needed for licensure.
