The Piano Pedagogy graduate program offers an extensive curriculum covering diverse teaching approaches, learning theories, repertoire progression, piano techniques, performance traditions, and studio management. Participants engage in individual, classroom, and group instruction across various age levels. The program also embraces modern innovations through hands-on applications of digital keyboards, Disklaviers, and computer technology.
Graduates of this program will achieve the following outcomes: Mastery of advanced piano pedagogy concepts and repertoire, with these studies constituting between one-third to two-thirds of the coursework. Development of complementary musical expertise in areas like music theory, history, musicology, ethnomusicology, or performance, representing at least one-third of the program. As a capstone requirement, each student must complete a final project, research paper, or recital to showcase their professional mastery in the field.
