The Department of Classics provides a Master of Arts program specializing in ancient languages and literature, allowing students to concentrate on Greek, Latin, or both disciplines. The department also offers an MA program focused on Classical Archaeology and Material Culture. This graduate degree equips students for advanced PhD studies in Classics and related fields, prepares them to teach Latin at secondary schools, and opens doors to diverse career paths. Supporting students in achieving their academic and professional aspirations remains a key priority for the department.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge about ancient world sites and material artifacts. While focusing primarily on Greek and Roman civilizations, the curriculum may also explore Egyptian, Near Eastern, Mycenaean, and Minoan cultures. Students will analyze classical material culture with awareness of its interconnectedness with social, political, and religious contexts. The program highlights the Mediterranean as a crossroads of cultural exchange, examining theories about cultural adaptation and resistance. Participants will master Classical Archaeology research techniques and become acquainted with leading academic publications and digital resources in the field.
