Our doctoral program in quantitative research methods for education (QRME) cultivates researchers, scholars, and policy leaders who employ empirical evidence-based inquiry traditions to generate knowledge and insights.
The curriculum emphasizes: Establishing robust quantitative research method competencies, Investigating causal and intricate relationships in real-world educational, social, and institutional contexts, Applying research findings to guide policy and implementation in educational and social environments.
The Quantitative Research Methods (QRM) graduate concentration offers intensive training to develop advanced skills in quantitative methodology, encompassing educational statistics and study design. Students must first gain admission to a University of Oregon master's or doctoral program to qualify for the QRM specialization. This concentration primarily serves PhD candidates selecting quantitative methods as their principal research approach within the College of Education (COE). Doctoral students from other disciplines may qualify but should consult with the overseeing department, Education Studies (EDST).
